Anointing of the Sick

“Is any among you sick? Let him call the elders of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven (James 5:14-15).” Through the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, those who are seriously ill in body or mind or are preparing for surgery receive the healing power of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness of sins. For some people, this may include physical healing, but for ALL it includes graces that heal our soul. This Sacrament truly enables us to experience God’s love and peace throughout our illness and unite our sufferings to Jesus’ suffering on the cross.
