Welcome to Middle School Religious Education
The goal of the Middle School Religious Education program is to prepare students in grade 8 to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students are required to be enrolled in Religious Education Classes for grades 6, 7 and 8 in order to be confirmed in grade 8

Homework and Missed Classes
Homework:
It is expected that all students will complete and turn in homework for each class. Homework is important to reiterate concepts that were taught in class or to prepare for the next class. In grades 7 & 8 it is important to have all reading assignments and homework completed before class so students will be able to participate fully in the class discussions and get the most out of class.
If you are missing a homework assignment, please find it below.
Missed Clases: It is expected that students attend all classes. If a student misses a winter session class click on the link below to find the appropriate Missed Class Assignment for the class missed. Please print and complete the make-up work and bring it to the next class session with the appropriate homework. By completing all of the material and turning it in, credit will be given for that class missed.
Confirmation
Confirmation Preparation Requirements
In the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend it is recommended that students should be confirmed during their 8th grade year. To be confirmed in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, a student’s family should be registered with the parish and attending Mass on a regular basis. Students must have completed Religious Education Classes for grades 6, 7 and 8.

Service Hours
All Confirmation students are required to complete service hours. To promote variety in the experience, not only should the number of service hours be completed but also a number of different service projects needs to be completed as well.
| Grade Level | # of Hours |
# of different Activities |
| Grade 6 | 6 | 2 |
| Grade 7 | 12 | 4 |
| Grade 8 | 18 | 6 |
Service hours can include a variety of activities that meet these criteria:
- The student is not being paid for the activity
- The activity is not a part of the student's general chores
- That it is done with a heart of service and helping-think of the Corporal & Spiritual Works of Mercy
Service Projects are due on the following dates:
Grade 6: April 29 (last day of class)
Grade 7: Week of April 23 (7th grade Journal Checks)
Grade 8: Week of February 6 (last 8th grade Journal checks and confirmation Interview)
When a student completes a service project he or she should fill out the Service Hours Log Sheet (see link below)
and have the person in charge sign it verifying that the work was done. If this is a family project or the form does not get signed when the student volunteered, a parent signature will suffice.
Students need to reflect on their service projects using the forms below.
Grade 6: Reflect on 2 service projects
Grade 7: Reflect on 3 service projects
Grade 8: Reflect on 4 service projects
